>since there are no proven >viruses that hurt Macs. minor correction... that hurt OS X (and a minor correction on that, there is at least one trojan horse concept out there for OS X, but no evidence that it was ever released to the wild).
The amazing thing is, anti virus software is still on the market and selling for OS X. Talk about selling snake oil! I'm sure, given time, there will be real viruses on OS X, but unless Apple gets its market share way up, most of the people that want to do damage or stroke their egos aren't going to target the mac (which means most of the virus writers out there aren't going to target the Mac) OS 9 and prior have plenty of viruses available, although the word plenty needs to be taken as literal and not relative to Windows. By plenty I mean enough that anti virus software at least had a point for those that were paranoid so it could stop the 30 or 40 depending on the OS version... relative speaking to Windows, OS 9 and prior should be considered "virus free"... at least by the standards that the FDA uses to determine if something is "fat free" :-) -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
