Peter, Don't worry about the speead as any ATA drive on the market will be extremely cheap due to the popularity of SATA. Look in newspaper advertisements and online special and you might be able to find a 160GB hard drive for under $60. Since the iMac 400 is fanless I would recomend a Seagate hard drive because they are very very quiet.
