I am running ATA/133 drives in two different 400 MHz iMac DVs, and have no problems. So just run down to your local store and pick up an ATA/100
or ATA/133 drive that is on sale. The bigger issue might be finding a
drive on sale that is under the 128 GB max those models can use (I don't know what happens if you connect larger... does the iMac just ignore the
extra space or does something horrible happen?!? Hopefully it just
ignores the extra space so you can get a 200 GB that seems to be the
sweet spot for rebates right now and sells the cheapest)

My drive is actually 160GB, and my iMac 400 just ignores the space
above 128GB, which appears to be normal, from what I've read online.

Kurt

I just wanted to make sure. Since I was ordering it for my sister's Mac.

Thank you again. I just purchased 120 GB drive.
