Top posting, Sorry. But all of that email came in at 8.6 kb which may not matter to people on unlimited broadband, but for others with a chosen quota can add up.

Hello Galen,

It is a universal rule that when we judge others(" They never trim") we always put foot in mouth ( or footer in mouth). Your reply has three Ipod ads, 3 Imac footers, two mail headers and two replies.

If you really want to be concise in your reply, interweave your reply in the original text.
Which I have done below, as an example.

(my first and last post in this thread, I promise.)
Is not this a top post?

Well, I am on 12 lists & I get well over 100 emails a day & if I
scrolled to read them all I would be scrolling all day. Most top post

Most top post because they're lazy.
Thanks but actually did we ask your advice on that subject?

One thing I almost invariably notice with top-posters is they *never* trim
off unnecessary content; items not relevant to the conversation, and
worse, message headers and signatures. I've left the rest of Jim's
message intact, (at the bottom of this post,) as a small, but effective
example.
Yes I see Jim's meassage but what are the other 98 lines of text for?
We don't need to see signatures repeated multiple times, we
don't need to see all the mail headers other than who said what.
Well why did you include them all?
  With my
friends I've seen simple discussions on what to do over the weekend grow to over 20k per message because they leave the mail headers intact; but
the real content of their email is two lines.

Bottom-posting does not mean placing your entire response at the end. It generally means just quoting the necessary text, (trimming excess,) then typing your response after that. Repeat for the rest of the quoted text,
so you're addressing items point by point.
Well then by your own definition that is not bottom posting, but multiple postings. Or interwoven postings.
Cut what you don't need,
ultimately leading to chopping all those signatures.

I imagine the bottom-posting method grew out of the need for efficiency;
one observation I've seen is anyone who's been on the net for over a
decade bottom-posts, the rest top-posts. Bandwidth and disk space may be cheap and limitless today compared to the past (we used to think that
of gas too, no?) But we shouldn't abandon courtesy for convenience.

I'm a bottom-poster myself, but adapt to whatever is being used. If
possible I'll try to "transform" a message into a bottom-post. But if a thread has gone far enough that it can't be done, I'll top-post ... and
trim off the signatures and excess.

...and since he's not reading this anyway, Jim is a doody-head!!! ;)
doody-head!! doody-head!! doody-head!!
See I finally got to the bottom of it.
I have not cut the headers etc below so you can see them.

Vic.

Your joking , are you?

I challenge you to subscribe to ANY list and see how top posting is
received.

In fact most, if not all, LIST-MUMS will tell you NOT to Top post.
