It sounds like it is the computer name that's John Doe's eMac, even if you 
create a new account, the computer name stays the same (Logically, this makes 
sense since the first user to make an account is usually the main user, and 
should have prerogative over the network name since that account came first.)
Check in the Sharing preference, as Mike suggested first thing. This should fix 
that problem. If not, then check the administrators preference, and make sure 
that the current account has all the right names. You can try deleting the 
other John Doe account, but I don't think either of those will solve the 
problem, because OSX automatically fills in the computer name as [first user 
created]'s [computer model]. So for instance, my iMac is Elliott Price's iMac, 
since I was the first user to create an account, and it's an iMac. If I create 
a second account, it'll still be called "Elliott Price's iMac" until you change 
it in the Sharing pane.
