You're in luck. Those can take up to 1GB of RAM, and run 10.4.11
without jumping through any hoops.

I can't vouch for 10.1, but in OS 9 you can check Apple System
Profiler and it'll tell you a lot of info about your computer, and of
course looking underneath like Paul suggested is easy, although
turning the darn thing around is a literal pain.

And, once upgraded to OS 10.4.11,  I suggest trying out NeoOffice
instead of OpenOffice --it's a version of OpenOffice ported to OS X
that doesn't require X11.
