I keep the original packing materials also - I had to have my power supply
repaired on my 8 year old Imac, though I always use an APC back-up to protect
against surges and spikes - it is amazing how heavy the computer seems when you
are trying to carry it a good distance - as if through a mall to the Apple
Store. I had it repaired this time at the auth Apple reseller, Crywolf in San
Diego - not nearly as far to carry from the parking lot to the building -

Try holding down the shift key to start in safe mode. If that doesn't work,
start it up holding down the command and V key, this will show all the unix
underbelly stuff that goes on…where it stops should tell you what the problem
is.

No it is not; not on a two-year-old one. The disk should have been in the square white
box that had the "manual" and warrantee information. If you got the standard
short wirelss keyboard, this box was at one end of the long box with the keyboard and
mouse in it. It's been a while since I unpacked one with the extended keyboard, but as I
recall it was also in that box as well, or perhaps it was stuck into another slot on the
white foam at the top of the box.

Note this is only helpoful if you're one of the anal types like me who keep all
the original packing materials… :-)
