The IMail logs should show how many bytes were received when the E-mail 
arrived (at the end of the "ldeliver" line).  Have you checked to see if 
the number of bytes seems to include the attachment or not?  That way, you 
could determine if the attachment was being deleted before it was received 
by IMail, or afterwards.
