I'm not sure with regards to "necessity." I do not think that you have
to have the users.txt file populated for list functionality to work.

<Direct from IPSWITCH>
USERS.LST is the list of e-mail addresses that the list-server mailing
list uses to address the mail it sends to this list. This file is
updated automatically when someone subscribes or unsubscribes to this
list.
When adding to the users.lst file, it is important to have one address
per line, no spaces, and a carriage-return at the end of each address.

The format of users.lst is:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

USERS.TXT is a list of the user names and e-mail addresses that is
updated automatically when someone subscribes or unsubscribes to the
list-server mailing list. (Note, it is not necessary to add addresses to
users.txt. This file provides information for the "list" command.)

The format of users.txt is:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Firstname Lastname
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Some W. Body

If you are simply adding a few names to an existing list then you can go
into IMail Administrator, click on List - then click on the list you
wish to modify. Click on addresses - this opens a text version of
user.lst file. You can then add or copy & paste your address into this
file.

Can someone explain the difference between the 2 files? Is it necessary
to populate both files to provide list functionality (ie.when doing it
programatically)?

Subject: [imail] Managing Lists via KillerWebmail

I noticed that when I remove a user from a "list" via the KillerWebmail
Interface, it only removes them from the users.lst file. This tends to
leave lots of "orphans" in the users.txt file.

I noticed that that when I remove a user from a "list" via the Imail
Administrative Interface, it removes the user from both the users.lst
and users.txt file(s).

I'd like to allow list admins to manage their users via KillerWebmail's
interface. Is there something I can do to make Webmail look in the
users.txt file in addition to users.lst file, and if the user exists in
users.txt, remove them? This would keep both lists in sync.

Thanks,
Darin
