Ummm... I would optimize first. Init will populate it with
everything that's in the registry--most info if you came from
4.0x, Userid, full name, address if you started with 5.0--
optimize will clean it up. If optimize does no good, then
init.

They do grace us with their expertise from time to time, but the members of
this list are primarily current users of the IMAIL server.

On to LDAP:
go into the "IMAIL Administrator", select the virtual host you want to work
with (under virtual hosts), look for the button "Init LDAP dB" and click it.
If your users are set up correctly it will populate your LDAP dB with info
that will correct the problem that you described. Then you will get names
instead of just icons...

You can also set attributes in LDAP using the "attributes" tab on the panel
(in IMAIL administrator) for each user... test it a bit you can be
surprised by the results of some changes, and better you learn that before
production. All in all I love the LDAP features in IMAIL, and I have
squeezed the LDAP server to do a good bit more than Ipswitch claims it will
do.

Have Fun

I really like the built-in features of your
software.
My company is testing your software and we were
wondering if any of the attributes can be changed
within your database to show Display Name, Nickname, and Employee ID.
We are testing your software with Outlook 98.
We can send email fine. But when we do a find
even though the records are retrieved..dialog line
shows an icon, line shows nothing else.If viewing
the property for the found entry we can see it is
the proper one...it adds the extra step though since we can see nothing
accompanying the icon
on the line for the record retrieved by your LDAP
server.
We believe Outlook only shows the Display Name
attribute in this dialog boxes or maybe the Nickname attribute.....
We are very serious about implementing your
software withing the next two months if all this
requirements can be met...

 Can you be of assistance?
