IPSWITCH,
A number of us who enjoy using your IMAIL product see a need for an API
toolkit to allow more flexible customization of the Web Interface. We trust
your product as a reliable back end and would prefer to tap into it for
custom front ends rather than to try to reinvent the web interface
elsewhere. The flexibility you have designed into the product already shows
your commitment to allowing your customer base to get the most out of IMAIL
that they can. We believe a simple API set with basic calls allowing us to
manipulate mail and folders, and to redraw menu options into our own
interfaces would allow us to develop interfaces that better fit our specific
needs. I am sure that the defining of this toolkit and it's development
would be a real effort, but we have established already a limited interest
in this as an add-on. We also believe this would be in your interest as it
would push the product into a new selling space of Application Integration
as well. Please consider this and let us know how we could help you in
defining and developing an API toolkit to extend the Interface of IMAIL.
Please find attached the mail I recieved in two days after suggesting
the idea of us getting together a quick "petition" to you for this needed
component. The list has been a buzz lately with talk of IMAIL interface
extensions based on third party platforms. I believe those people would
quickly plug in to this concept as well if you help us make it a reality.
Please consider a formal poll of IMAIL users to see if they would see this
as a valuable add-on. I am sure that it is clear to them what functionality
this would offer you will find it would be in demand.
Speaking for myself... I would be glad to pay extra for a good API set
add-on. I see the value of writing to an API that will grow with the
product and would gladly pay for that flexibility and functionality.
Thank you for your careful consideration,
Vaughn Thurman and...
the enlightened [IMAIL FORUM] members.
API. Sounds good.

I have not been tracking the agreements on the API request/petition. I
should have been. If you agree with this effort would you send me a quick
e-mail (offline) so I can record your name and e-mail address? Just put
"API" in the body. If I can get enough names I will submit one more post
here in the form of a petition to formally ask Ipswitch for consideration.
