Tom,

Do you really mean this: "It only seems to give me trouble when the list and
recipients are on the same server."? If you make the lists users email
addresses in the form: [EMAIL PROTECTED], where this matches the OHN
(Official Host Name) that IMail uses, does that help?

If this is true, that would make me think you are having some local name
resolution problem and to check that, you need to get the following:

TCPIP settings:
>From IP tab: IP address
>From DNS tab: Host Name, Domain Name
IMail Admin, Localhost folder, General tab: Host Name

IAdmin, DomainNamed Folder selected: Official Host Name for the domain
Alias folder, imailsrv alias: Resolves to field

Copy of winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file (only lines without #, please)

BTW, if you get, from the NT Resource Kit, KILL.EXE, you can use that to
stop all the smtp32 processes and not need to reboot. I've used it myself in
a couple of instances and it works fine. Saves all that reboot time and you
could even schedule it, if needed (I hope not, but it can help until problem
is resolved).

I would offer that the uninstall/reinstall needs to be planned and excuted
correctly (you are right to be cautious!!). If you end up bringing 'back'
some reminant from the old install, it could set you right back to where you
started. True, this drastic action may need to be taken, but only after all
other avenues have been exhausted. If I were doing it, I think the first
thing I would do after the install would be to create the lists, populate
them, then test. If all is OK, you probably are on the road to recovery.
Just be careful when restoring the registry. That could be the root of your
problem and just restoring the whole IMail portion, could 'restore' the
problem. I would backup each domain in the registry, separately, and restore
them one at a time. I would stay away from the main branch of the IMail
registry, saving portions from below that ONLY.
