Are you using an external database with ODBCUSER.DLL? If so, that is
probably what's compounding the IMail v6.0x Administrator slowness and
confirm my theory. It appears from what I hear on this list, IMail is
trying to reread every users account a second time after getting it the
first time.
In order to display the list of accounts, IMail sequentially runs through
the GetNextUserEntry API procedure in ODBCUSER.DLL until all users are
displayed. As it's doing this, it also runs GetUserEntry to get the flags
field for the user to determine hair color.. and this is the cause of the
slowdown!
The funny thing about all this is that the GetNextUserEntry function itself
also returns a complete user record, including access flags!! So there's
absolutely no reason why they need to get the user info a second time.
The programmers at IPSwitch apparently couldn't figure this out so they
choose to grab the user info the second time. I bet even after seeing this
message, they still won't be able to figure this out. Perhaps if they,
themselves had written ODBCUSER.DLL and cared to look at the source code,
they'd understand the problem and how to fix it.
