In the IMail external database configuration panel, in your ODBC System Data
Source Name field, have you tried something like:

   myDSN;uid=mySQL7username;pwd=mySQL7password

... and then make sure your SQL7 database and ODBC is set up to use SQL7's
security, not NT security?

I don't use SQL7 with IMail, but I do use SQL7 with ColdFusion and ASP, and
you always have to pass a username and password to connect correctly with
those languages.
