I'm running under the 6.03-2000.03.16.410 version
I have first unchecked the SMTP AUTH as preconized against spam. But I saw
in the knowledge database that it could be a problem with netscape clients
in a previous version of Imail. So I've checked it to see the effects but
the problem remains.

Bonjour Phil,
1. there is a post-6.03 patch on the ipswitch site that fixed some SMTP
AUTH pb's. Do you have that patch?
2. In the Imail SMTPSecurty panel, do you have "disable SMTP AUTH
reporting" checked or unchecked?
