Any mail client that supports POP3 and SMTP.
To implement POP-before-SMTP, all work is done on the server. It's
transparent to the client (as long as it checks mail before sending
mail).
What happens is this:
-User POPs their mail
-POP3 daemon writes out the IP address to an access list
-SMTP daemon uses that access list to authorize client access
-some other (perhaps POP or SMTP) will clean out the access list to
remove old entries
It's a rather simple kludge to allow roaming support for older clients
that do not support SMTP Authentication.
I don't expect that imail will support this now, or ever. Ipswitch has
shown themselves quite incapable of keeping up with other platforms in
terms of features and interoperability.
