A slightly cleverer way of doing this is using the adduser command basically
if you modify the user to have the same details and use the -l (for ldap) to
the command line then the ldap info is updated. We have gone through various
phases in using this, at the moment I am using a SQL query and some VB
script to call the adduser command. The SQL storage uses triggers and a bit
more information to say whether the user has been updated then a query pulls
back the adduser command line for all the users that have changed. This can
then run on the task scheduler (W2K).

I am using Outlook 2000 against IMail LDAP successfully. Someone on the
list figured out that you have to add the user from the IMail administrator
or modify the user in the IMail administrator if you create the account by
some other method. If you do that and set objectclass=person then O2K will
read it properly every time. Since I have a small user base I went in and
manually updated each record. Now I just add users from the IMail
administrator. Unfortunately, it seems that just about everyone else on the
list has too many users for this to work.

Hi Everyone,

Just wonderin'... is anyone querying against IMail's LDAP server
(v6.x) with *any* client successfully? And I'm not just talking
about once in a while; I mean really hitting it without
incident.

We've got a COM object in development to allow ASP pages to
query non-MS LDAP servers (like IMail), but after about 10-30
queries against the server, IMail's CPU spikes to 100% for
several seconds, and the game's over for that browser session.
The same COM/ASP combo works flawlessly against other non-IMail
LDAP servers. And yes, we've tried MS's ADSI LDAP interface...
those of you who've tried to make that work against IMail know
why we're now trying to roll our own. :)

Are there known issues with IMail and LDAP? Ipswitch KB searches
came up dry, with the exception of using objectclass=Person,
which we are doing.

Thanks in advance,
Ron
