Okay guys,
here is an interesting one.

Hopefully you guys will have some ideas since the tech support person at
Ipswitch had nothing but smug comments for me.

I recently migrated our office from Sendmail to Imail 6.03. My server is a
PII 300 with 256 megs of RAM and I am running W2K for the OS. For the most
part, every thing runs great. However, occasionally people in the office
will receive a new piece of email but the header will not display in Outlook
Express 5.x.
It shows a new message in the Inbox folder, but the header for the message
is not displayed. Now, if I use any other mail client (OE 4.x, Outlook,
Netscape, web interface for Imail, OE 5.x for the mac), the mail shows up
just fine.

So, I checked the knowledge base on Ipswitch's site and Microsoft's
knowledge base. There is an entry describing my problem. Apparently, OE
5.x adheres more strongly to the RFC specs for proper mail header
construction. And if there is something out of place such as a trailing
space or tab, it won't display the mail.

So, I contacted Ipswitch's tech support and explained that I have never had
this problem with sendmail and that I thought that it was reasonable to
think that Imail might not be constructing every message properly, or at the
very least, not constructing every message in a format that is acceptable to
Outlook Express 5.x.

I will spare you all the obnoxious answers that I received via email.

Anyway, has anyone else had a problem like this? Any ideas as far as a work
around goes? (aside from ditching OE 5.x as a mail client).

Many thanks in advance,
-Ryan Linwood
