Scott,
Actually we used USR modems during testing of the Fax and they worked OK,
but when the Fax software checks the modem and saves its configuration, the
modem reports capabilities that is does not fully support. This is easily
fixed by modification of the faxman32.ini (in the imail dir) file. Here is
one that was created with my Sportster:
[FaxGeneral]
AutoShutdown=ON
[Port1]
Send=1
Receive=1
Class1=1
Class2=0
Class20=1
To fix your problem, change the Class20=1 line to:
Class20=0
and save (a backup copy, too, in case the Fax Configure is run again). I
named my backup file 'faxman32.inj'.
If I remember correctly, the symptoms were exactly the same as yours.
