How how else can it get in there or anywhere else?

Oh, well then, Jonas, you're in luck! TGIF.

IMGate (with postfix as MTA / Mail Transfer Agent / SMTP server) can do this.

As seen on:  http://postfix.eu.org/uce.html

"permit_mx_backup

Permit the (relay) request when the local mail system is MX host for
the resolved destination. This includes the case that the local mail
system is the final destination. However, the SMTP server will not
forward mail with addresses that have sender-specified routing
information (example: user@elsewhere@domain)."

ie, postfix sees some incoming mail, checks DNS to see the "RCPT TO:
@recipientdomain" domain lists the IMGate machine's hostname as an MX
record. If it does, then IMGate accepts the incoming, and then it
goes into the standard behavior for MX hosts and begins to try to
relay the msg to the next highest, availabel MX for that
@recipientdomain.  Pretty cool mind-reading, huh?

Plus, "while you're at it", you can have Imail send all its outgoing
mail back out through IMGate for delivery to Internet, offloading a
ton of work from Imail.
