'Cause when we originally released it, it was always on, period. However, the version 
of NS that was current at that time (4.0something) would authenticate with the wrong 
credentials. Our customers screamed when their customers screamed. So we added a way 
to turn off the reporting. That selection doesn't turn off AUTH, it just doesn't put 
it in the EHLO. If you can force the client to AUTH then it will. Some can, most can't.
