what were you expecting/preferring Imail to do with a broken address?

If it doesn't, it appears that such an error kills the SMTP client
process doing the multiple local delivery.

no, not afaik
This is a non-problem. Tell the user to fix his addressing.
But I agree with the implicit spirit of your msg. Imail's SMTP
client process seems to be way too delicate a bird for flying into
the heavy weather that gets thrown at it. eg, msgs with bad/poison
formats essentially kill all deliveries until manual intervention
reboots the machine. This just isn't tuff enuff.
