Could I suggest that possible the addresses are getting truncated in the log
file? Im not saying thats what the 'problem' is, but that might be why the
address looks broken. My log files always have things that are truncated.
Doesnt hurt the service that my server gives, but it still can be annoying
when analyzing the log files manually.

what were you expecting/preferring Imail to do with a broken address?

If it doesn't, it appears that such an error kills the SMTP client
process doing the multiple local delivery.

no, not afaik
This is a non-problem. Tell the user to fix his addressing.
But I agree with the implicit spirit of your msg. Imail's SMTP
client process seems to be way too delicate a bird for flying into
the heavy weather that gets thrown at it. eg, msgs with bad/poison
formats essentially kill all deliveries until manual intervention
reboots the machine. This just isn't tuff enuff.
