Yep...   Ipwsith has samples of their web site with working PERL code.

All you need to do is use a form to collect the user's name and email
address, along wioth what list they want to join.  Then you simply create
and send an email message to the listserver on their behalf

from: their address
to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

in the body:
    subscribe LISTNAME THEIR NAME

That's it.
