Are you trying to create a "read-only" account, i.e. the user can read
email but not reply?  Sort of defeats the purpose of having an email
account doesn't it?

I suppose you could go on the SMTP Security settings and use Control
access and/or Edit Kill File to refuse to relay their mail.

Disabling SMTP AUTH disables the "announcement" that it supports
SMTP AUTH, it does not disable the functionality.
