No, it is not a problem with the configuration
options in OE. I can reproduce this problem, at will, using different
versions of OE (all 5.x), on different OSs (Win 9x, Winnt all versions), on
different computer, in different locations, for different users, and with
different options. That is why I originally thought the problem was with
OE, because I knew that OE would fail to download these messages with virtually
any configuration or user. The only thing I couldn't change was the mail
server.
In my tests, there were only two constants that I
didn't change: I always used Outlook Express as the client, and I always used
IMail as the server. I could and did change everything else. After
being reassured here that IMail couldn't possibly cause this problem, I focused
on OE. However, now that I can test this problem against a different
server product (whatever Novell uses for their myrealbox.com service), I am
suspicious of IMail.
I know that the IMail techs aren't required to
support us through this discussion list, but it would really help if they could
comment on this issue.
