Hey Jim,
Do you realize that when you post your mail to this list, your messages are invisible
to me? It's the comma in "Jones, Jr." that
kills the message. Ironically, a message I sent out earlier today had the phrase
"invisible" (with the quotes) in the subject line,
and it also came up invisible. The only I am now seeing these messages (including
yours) is because I went to the server and
directly edited the mail.mbx file to remove anything causing a problem (like your
comma).
Let's start by seeing if we're sharing the same problem: what protocol do you use for
your clients to access IMail? All of my
problems have been linked to IMAP, although someone else wrote to me claiming the same
problem with POP3.
Second, look at the headers of your "invisible" messages and see if there are "odd"
characters in the From:, To:, CC:, or Subject
lines. A comma would be one problem, a quote, backslash, or parenthesis could also be
a problem. If you have access to your IMail
server, you can directly edit the main.mbx file to see if the "invisible" messages
become visible.
I wish some more people would speak up. I know I've received a few messages over the
last couple of weeks, but I don't have a list.
