DNS is not very CPU intensive. If you setup specialized DNS�s, then you
increase redundancy and performance.
One type of DNS is used only for replying to interative queries from other
NS�s for the domains hosted on the DNS. Here you deny all recursive
queries and don�t need much memory since there is no caching.
The other type of DNS hosts no domains and allows recursion but only for
your ip blocks, including you dial-up ip�s, your mail server ip�s, and your
list server ip�s. This is a "caching only" DNS. It works a lot harder
than the registered server above because it has to navigate the internet
name space to find answers to recursive queries AND needs memory for
caching those answers.

sounds like a smart vendor. More boxes are almost always better technical
solutions than less boxes. they pre-empt the type of tricky pb you just
solved.

Better, you�ve got to figure out why you need WINS and netbios on a public
Internet server. Such a combo makes the security gurus freak out.
