We get scanned like this too... every server, every day... it's scary.

| That's what we're guessing, too. They may check for matches against
| certain strings indicating well known security holes, but that's likely
| it. We recently set up a fake FTP server that has its own unique
| greeting,
| and every few days someone will come along and use an automated
| program to
| check for security holes.
