routing flexibility, and off loading the heavy (command line) scanning from
your user mailbox server.
AV scanning is back-office plumbing, shouldn�t be run on front-office
user-services boxes.

with low-volume servers, this is acceptable, but it doesn�t scale. Large
mail systems are disk-bound. AV scanning is more disk i/o.
in-line scanning on a separate box reduces disk i/o on the mailbox server
since infected msgs are kept off the mailbox server.
