I find my service works well in a lot of the outer edges of the Olympic
National Park in our "back yard". If the cell (Sprint) does not work, there
is a good chance the pager (AT&T) will. I tried one of the new 2-way pagers
(Motorola Talkabout T900) and found service in our area very intermittent.
Even sitting at my desk I could not count on it working. So I went back to
the 1-way pager and I am happy.

Usually when I travel though, I give the pager to someone that will be
staying in town. I keep the cell phone. That way they can call me of they
cannot fix something. But when I use to go backpacking, I did not take
anything I did not NEED! I am the guy that cuts the handle short on
toothbrushes to save weight. But now that I am older, if it does not have a
hot shower...
