Sorry to go off-topic, but it's important...
Anyone administering any domains through Network Solutions
(we still have a few thousand old domains there for clients) --
Our Nic Handle was "hijacked". I received a confirmation that
"as per my request" (which never happened), my authentication
scheme was changed from CRYPT-PW to "Mail-From"
This was obviously never authorized by us, but Network Solutions /
Verisign processed this modification request on behalf of someone
in Hong Kong ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
I caught it quickly and am on the phone right now with them to
get everything switched back and to determine whether any domains
were effectively (or attempted to be) hijacked by this little scam.
I don't know if this is wide spread, but I thought it important to
put everyone on alert !!!
... actually, it just got escalated all the way up to their security
department who (CORRECTLY) put a freeze on the NIC handle,
disabled all modifications using it (for now) and are investigating
the logs to make sure that nothing was changed yet using the scheme.
Again, I don't know how wide spread this will be, but if you get an
email with the subject:
Re: [NIC-xxxxxx.xxxx] Contact
... open it real fast, because that's a confirmation that a NIC handle has
been modified.
