Does one run the stunnel software on the e-mail server machine itself or on another
machine as a gateway? I thought I saw something on the stunnel site that stated that
you could not use it on a localhost - perhaps I was wrong in my perusal. Also, do you
use this software?

Thanks.

I have seen this before, on a server running 6.06 I believe.

That is normal. The certificate you use will have little effect on how the
SSL performs. It could effect how the SSL is handled by the remote
browser, but won't normally cause any server-side issues.

>It has also happened on both the default ssl webmail port and port 443.

That, too, is normal. The port used won't make a difference as to how well
the code works.

>It has happened with users using both Netscape and Internet Explorer.

Again, normal. The problem appears to be with the code on the server. The
initial SSL code in IMail wasn't fully up to par (I haven't checked it out
lately, though). The http://www.stunnel.org solution (freeware) that I
mentioned earlier replaces all the IMail SSL code, and will take care of
the problem.
