Hi, We've just recently purchased and installed Hijack. It worked well enough to get us off of some open relay lists. The few options it has are easy to configure, -one text file-, and it seems to be working pretty good. I do believe that your server will "appear" to be an open relay, but all mail that violates the rules you have set up are held in a folder on the server, not relayed.
It may not be the most "correct" way to do things, but it does seem to work. How easy is this to setup for a MS, C++, ASP oriented person? We like the Declude HiJack solution because it is easy, quick and can control our users from spamming. However, since it does allow small volumes of mail to be relayed, couldn't our server still be listed in one of the open relay databases if a message gets through?
