IMGate is very easy to setup. Setting up the POP-Before-SMTP feature is a little more tricky. Visit imgate.meiway.com for directions on setting up IMGate. Also subscribe the IMGate list. Everyone on that list is very helpful in getting your server up and running.

With this setup, we will no longer be able to secure the server using "Relay Mail for Addresses". We do NOT want to use SMTP vrfy because of the issues I've seen using that and ODBC and we do not want to deal with the flood of support issues that this would undoubtedly bring from our users. With that said, it appears we have two options: 1. IMgate and the "Pop-Before-SMTP" feature - The way I understand this is that a user POPs to Imail then IMgate reads Imail logs and temporarily allows user's IP to relay. Basically, this is a dynamic version of "Relay for Addresses"? 2. Install Declude HiJack. We like the IMgate solution because of it's apparent security and we also want to setup IMgate boxes to take stress off of our Imail machine BUT time is critical right now and our only UNIX guy hasn't used it in 10 years so getting up to speed could be an issue. How easy is this to setup for a MS, C++, ASP oriented person? We like the Declude HiJack solution because it is easy, quick and can control our users from spamming. However, since it does allow small volumes of mail to be relayed, couldn't our server still be listed in one of the open relay databases if a message gets through? Any thoughts or opinions on these two solutions is much appreciated. Thanks David Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
