Hi all. Question:

If I have a domain, for example, example.com, hosted on my IMail
server, and say the company wants to move their mail accounts to
their own in-house mail server...

...if they set up the domain in-house, and I change my DNS MX entries
to point to their mail server, for a day or two their e-mails will
still be routed to my mail server (until DNS propagates everywhere).

Will IMail automatically check the MX record and forward the e-mail
to the correct server, or will it land on my server?

I know the instructions for Store and Forward say the MX record
should be pointing to the IMail server and their should be an entry
in the HOSTS file, which IMail will check then forward the mail. But
this scenario is a little different as the MX record will be
changing, and I just need the Store and Forward to happen until DNS
propagates.

If I DO have to make a HOSTS entry, what would I enter? I'm using
"example.com" (whose A record points to the web site) as the official
host name and "mail.example.com" as an alias. I have the A record for
mail.example.com pointing to IMail. So, if I entered...

a.b.c.d mail.example.com

...where a.b.c.d is the IP of the new mail server, would IMail know
to forward mail destined for "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" as opposed to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"?

Thanks. What a confusing question. :)
