At least the A record issue and some other DNS issues are definitely
corrected in 7.1x. I have experimented with this using both 7.1 and
pre 7.1.

One problem in addition to the A record issue was when no A records or
MX records existed for a domain but the domain still had DNS records.
One that really annoyed me was home.com. However, I've tested
messages to home.com now on both 7.1 and 7.07.

Messages to home.com via 7.07 would remain in the Queue for the total
number of tries. At first I thought it was perhaps because home.com
had an A record - and they for a while. But finally the A record was
removed from DNS and messages to home.com would still remain in the
spool. I have seen other domains with DNS records but neither A nor MX
records behave the same way in 7.07.

However in 7.1 messages to home.com (and others with no MX or A
records) immediately fail which is a welcome relief.
