That's the normal behavior.  That's saying "What is the A record for 
techie.com" (IE "What IP would my web browser go to if I went to 
http://techie.com.";, which is usually a different IP than the MX record, or 
"What IP should my mailserver send mail to @techie.com").

Your response means that there is no webserver or other hosts at techie.com 
(just www.techie.com, etc.).

That's the correct behavior.  When looking up a mailserver, you want to use 
the MX record.

Nope -- you're getting the correct results.  It sounds like an IMail issue 
here (someone else reported the same symptoms for just one domain).  Unless 
there's something that is being overlooked (such as IMail using different 
IPs for the DNS servers than you think it is), it sounds like an IMail issue.
