My "secondary" is simply imaginary. Whereas my primary is
"ns1.example.com", my secondary is "ns2.example.com". I only enter new
records one time in my DNS console on my IIS 5 server. Whenever I
register a new domain, I just stick "ns2.example.com" in the required
2nd field because Registrars require 2 DNS server names, regardless of
whether the second one exists or not.

Yes, I understand. We have migrated from an Imail topic to an IIS/web
hosting DNS topic.

I'd hate to think about having to enter over 100 new DNS records on some
foreign/external DNS server. I do backup all the DNS configuration
files, just in case disaster hits.

Well, since it appears that the 4 Uunet's DNS servers are less than
reliable, what would prevent me from using some other DNS server? Can I
just pick any old DNS server on the Net for free, without the host's
permission? I assumed that if I am using Uunet's lines, that I must use
their DNS servers. The 4 I entered in the Imail SMTP page are the 4
that the company that gives me a 1U rackspace gave me. I never asked
why I had to use those 4, or if I could use other DNS servers with
Imail.
