Note that looking up *your* domain will provide information on problems with incoming E-mail to your domain, but will not normally help with problems with outgoing E-mail.> The next thing to do is see if there is a problem on your server.on checking here..... http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=2khiway.net&type=MX
The IMail DNS listings won't affect DNS lookups outside of IMail. If you want DNS lookups to go to a different nameserver, you need to contact the registrar for your domain.it WAS searching DNS2.2khiway.net - our backup DNS, which was removed from Imail.
Why do you think there is a problem here? That lookup page will go to *ONE* of your DNS servers, so if you have multiple DNS servers listed, it will pick one of them randomly. The results will be the same no matter what the IMail settings are.- We've since made changes and now reports DNS1. hmmmm. possible problem?
Incoming and outgoing DNS are very, very different. You're mixing them up because you are apparently using the same DNS server for both (which is OK, although it is preferred to have separate servers). If the DNS it's expecting isn't there, it couldn't find an MX record correct?
Incoming DNS is other people looking up DNS information about your domain(s). Problems here affect your incoming mail, and can cause non-delivery or delayed deliveries or bounces on incoming E-mail. It will not affect outgoing mail.
Outgoing DNS ("caching DNS") is looking up DNS information on other domains. That's what IMail does. Problems here will affect outgoing mail, but will not affect incoming mail.
Then how about posting a log file snippet from one of the E-mails that people were complaining about. :)> >10:26 00:02 SMTP-(00000A40) Trying primetimedirect.net (0) > >10:26 00:03 SMTP-(00000A40) MX connect fail "66.7.159.196" > > This is normal. IMail is going to the correct IP, and that IP is not > responding. That's a problem on their > end. > http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/mail.ch?domain=postmaster@;primetimedirect.net > confirms this. Ok good, that's ONE. We had so many complaints today about Sunday my head hurts....
Are you subscribed to the list? Normally, the messages posted to the Declude mailing lists are delivered very quickly.> You need to check a couple of the E-mails people are claiming problems > with, to see if IMail is doing something wrong, or if the problem is on the > remote end. Will do Scott, thank you. BTW I sent a message to Declude Junkmail that I have yet to see post.
