Instead of attempting to spool mail and transfer to a dialup exchange server
using ETRN, etc., we have always had much better luck using the POP3
connector. Basically it works like so:
- add the domain to Imail, create a single user mailbox.
- either 1) add a nobody alias pointing at the single user mailbox, or 2)
add aliases for each exchange user, pointing them to the emailbox on your
imail server.
- configure Exchange's pop3 connector to login whenever they want - and
download the mail from the pop3 mailbox on your imail box.
- Exchange can sort to the individual exchange mailboxes based on the
original To: headers.

Our experience has been that POP3 is much more reliable than ETRN is. :-)

FWIW, we don't have too many users doing this anymore - but it does seem to
work fine for those that do. Most either have dedicated connections (and
therefore don't need our spooling, or just need us as a backup mx), or don't
really need the features of exchange and just use our email.

Hope this helps!
- Tony
