It's fully possible to put an IMail domain TopDir on a network drive.
I'd advise you to do more research and testing--your design will work
just fine, provided you don't mess with the IMail executables.
Thanks very much, Sandy. I tried very hard to put that directory on the shared drive:

I stopped the services, copied the *entire* imail directory to the share, then changed the domain TopDir through Imail administrator, restarted the services, and all my messages to the list bounced with errors stating that no users were defined for that list.

Then I stopped the services again and went through the registry looking for references to the old path, and I updated each one that I could find to the network path, *except* for those that referenced .exe, .dll, and (what the heck) .hlp files. I restarted services and bounced the server for grins. Imail still tells me there were no users in the list (and, of course, there were).

I changed everything back and it's working fine again.

I applied to Imail support and got this response:

Reading it closely, I see that they didn't absolutely rule out moving an entire domain directory to a shared drive; perhaps they meant that they don't support moving the list directory by itself.

I have looked through the manuals and knowledge base for information on moving an existing domain directory to a different drive letter, but haven't found anything that seemed directly applicable; perhaps I need to recreate the domain on the share?

Thanks again, all, for your time.
