Title: Problem sending mail
Sounds like it something on his laptop or with his VPN settings.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Problem sending mail

Hi,

I seem to be having a strange problem here.

I have a user who is trying to send mail using Outlook 2002, dialed up to AOL, through a VPN connection. This was working fine until someone who thought they were helping reformatted his machine and tried to set it back up again.

What is puzzling to me is the log entry, pasted below:

07:17 08:10 SMTPD(011E013E) [24.73.160.163] connect 24.73.160.166 port 1069
 07:17 08:10 SMTPD(011E013E) [24.73.160.166] EHLO chesterblaptop
 07:17 08:10 SMTPD(011E013E) [24.73.160.166] MAIL FROM: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
 07:17 08:10 SMTPD(011E013E) [24.73.160.166] RCPT TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
And that is it. No spool file is ever created. It's like the connection just times out and goes to cyberspace, never to return. It looks like the initial connection to my mail server is being made, but then I can't figure out what is happening. There are just no more log files concerning this process.

I tested this, thinking there was a problem using AOL. Here is the log entry when I vpn in, from my laptop, dialed up to AOL, using Outlook2002,  and send mail to him, exactly the way he was sending mail to me:

07:17 08:38 SMTPD(0712012E) [24.73.160.163] connect 24.73.160.165 port 1060

07:17 08:38 SMTPD(0712012E) [24.73.160.165] MAIL FROM: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
07:17 08:38 SMTPD(0712012E) [24.73.160.165] RCPT TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

07:17 08:38 SMTP-(000002D0) ldeliver todhunter.com cbrandes-main (1) [EMAIL PROTECTED] 983
All the other log entries are complete, including the redeliver line, spool creation line, etc, just nothing when it comes to this particular user. I had him try to send mail to other users and this happens each time he tries to send. Four lines in the log concerning that process, and nothing more.

Im stumped!
Sharyn
