Thanks everyone for your help on this.

We got an updated nlm from Novell that responds to IPv6 type=aaaa queries
and since then the mail is being processed normally.

I am still not happy about the time and energy that went into having to
diagnose a problem with someone else's antispam software.  Especially given
that there own authoritative dns does not resolve the same queries that they
are bouncing mail on.  Rather hypocritical if not plain stupid.
