I run Bind on Windows. The bug is that it that the service stops, but still answeres internal queries. This is a BIND 9.2.2 bug, to be fixed in the 9.3 release.
I fixed a client this week with that problem with his BIND9 stopping every 1 to 2 hours, by replacing 9.2.2 with 8.4.1, and bind8 hasn't stopped yet.
