Last weekend I reinstalled the whole email server including the operating system, Imail, plus 8.01 patch, mcafee webshield)

I still can not do remote login to our new email server, but I noticed, that if i telnet to the pop3 port (110) I get a weird email address in the greeting line. I get normal response from port 25 and 1025. (I use mcafee webshield for email virus chekcing)
(see the copy/pasted results on the bottom of my message)

As far as I know, nothing should interfere with the pop3 service of Imail within our LAN in house, does someone has an idea why it is so weird? Or is it normal?

If you do test telnet sessions to port 110 or 25, do you get these weird numbers within a complete email address?

Could someone send me a sample response from port 110? (so, that I would know what the proper response should be).

This is a brand new install on a W2K server with SP3 on it.

Thanks,
Geza
