I want to scan that directory for email.
Why?
A desktop scanner isn't designed to scan E-mail on a mailserver, and as such can sometimes cause bigger problems than the virus itself. For example, most desktop virus scanners will detect few (if any) viruses in E-mail (providing a false sense of security), and they have been known to delete whole mailboxes of (mostly) legitimate E-mail.
