calls iniated by computers are illegal in TN (been that way for years).

I still get them (and am on DNC list here, which did cut down some calls)

HIPAA does not allow blind reminders of DR appts unless person has signed
waiver. Some Dr's still use computerized systems that do not have any way to
confirm who they are talking to for all their reminders. Others use humans
who identify what office is calling before they confirm who they are asking
for. All these are illegal.

Yet, I still get them.

Those who wish to break the law will continue doing so (and the second
example is not even malicious or telemarketers, just cluelessness).

I still like the people that think having an unlisted number means you won't
get telemarketing calls.

Even the computer calls all originate with humans, who can be fined. Just
that it is not cost effective to do telemarketing from off-shore (more so
for faxes, but still more than in US), while very much so (cost effective to
be off-shore) for computer spam.
