Hi,
We had the same problem (almost same Hardware, DL G3 360) until we changed ethernet card with an Intel.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Server recommendation

Yesterday we move IMail to a new server:

Compaq Proliant DL380

2 x 36GB SCSI Drives with RAID 1 - System Partition

4 x 36GB SCSI Drives with RAID 2 – Data Partition

1.5GB of RAM

HP NC7781 Gigabit Server Adapter – Configured for 100MB Full Duplex

Windows 2000 with latest service packs

IMAIL 8.03 hotfix 1

Once we moved the mailboxes at night, everything seemed to be working fine.  At about 3:00am when the email traffic starts to pick up, the server would not even response to pings.  When we looked at the console, we could not even log in to the server.  We tried to troubleshoot the problem but the server would not stay up for 5min so we had to roll back to the old server.  The logs showed that IMail was trying to send emails but could not connect to external servers.

We called IMail and they said that the problem could have been caused by the NIC card but we could not find anything.

Anyway, I’ve been asked to get a new server.  What’s a good name brand server that people are using to run IMail?

Oswaldo
