Vince,
Here you say a telnet session to port 25 does not resolve... Yes. Checked everything. User has dyn ip so its constantly changing, > again he is the only user having this problem. No firewalls installed. > Not using windows built in firewall, disabled mcafee av ( personal > firewall not installed ) still nothing.... I can telnet to port 110 > fine. Tried to relnet to port 25 unable to resolve. He is using win2k > pro with all updates and patches. > Im going to try to uninstall OE and reinstall ( don't think that will > help but going to try ) installed spybot and removed some spyware. Ive > got to get this fixed the guy is calling every 20 minutes to see if we > have found the problem. > If this was a 98 machine I would say rip dun and tcp/ip and redo. I know this may seem like I am stating the obvious, but as you are trying everything, I thought we would ask everything. "Does not resolve" is a DNS message. Have you tries to TELNET to the SMTP server from his system by using three SMTP server IP? If that works, than I'd look for a host file to some such nonsense that is confusing DNS. Sorry if this was covered long ago.....
